June Holidays 2025 at The Learning Lab: Real Learning, Real Adventure

Girls who study at The Learning Lab solve a riddle together during the Escape Room event in June 2025

When the school bell stops ringing, the learning doesn’t have to.

This June holidays, over 100 of our Upper Primary students stepped out of the classroom and into two of our most exciting experiences yet — a real-world science adventure along Singapore’s coastline and a fast-paced escape room challenge.

Designed to bring PSLE concepts to life, both programmes combined critical thinking, teamwork and a healthy dose of curiosity — because learning is always better with a little adventure.

Marine Intertidal Learning Journey — Exploring Singapore’s Shores with Biogirl MJ

Students of The Learning Lab with Biogirl MJ during Marine Intertidal Learning Journey at Singapore Changi beach in June 2025

Our Primary 5 Science students recently stepped beyond the classroom for a Marine Intertidal Adventure at Changi Beach — co-organised with Biogirl MJ from Just Keep Thinking, Singapore’s well-known science and biodiversity platform.

With her signature energy and expertise, Biogirl MJ brought the marine ecosystem to life. Students got up close with sea cucumbers, crabs, anemones and more, while connecting these real-world encounters to key PSLE Science concepts.

Sketchbooks in hand, they documented their observations, asked questions and saw how topics like classification, adaptation and habitats play out in nature.

It was a hands-on experience designed to build knowledge, spark curiosity and inspire confidence — showing students that science doesn’t just live in textbooks, but all around them.

A Parent-Child Escape Room Adventure: The Lost Treasure of Captain Ironhook

Students of The Learning Lab gathered together to solve puzzles for Escape Room event during June 2025 holidays

This wasn’t just about unlocking treasure, it was about unlocking the joy of thinking.

In a race against time, our Primary 4 and Primary 5 students went head-to-head with their parents in a thrilling race to outwit the notorious Captain Ironhook and uncover his long-lost treasure. Across five immersive, pirate-themed zones, teams navigated stormy maps, cracked cryptic codes and tackled high-pressure puzzles that were rooted in real PSLE concepts from English, Maths and Science.

Each puzzle was specially designed by The Learning Lab’s teaching team to stretch critical thinking and academic confidence under pressure. From inference-based riddles to real-world logic challenges, our parents discovered the complexity of the P4 and P5 syllabus and the critical thinking skills needed to master it.

With riddles, logic puzzles and time-sensitive tasks, this one-of-a-kind experience pushed both students and parents to think fast, problem-solve creatively and see who would emerge victorious.

This one-of-a-kind experience built teamwork, verbal reasoning and creative problem-solving — all wrapped in an unforgettable adventure where learning came to life on the high seas.

Whether exploring rocky shores or racing through puzzle-packed escape rooms, our students discovered new ways to engage with the syllabus — not through drills or worksheets, but through stories, strategy and hands-on exploration.

These experiences stretched their thinking, deepened their understanding of real-world concepts and sparked renewed confidence as they head into the second half of the academic year, all ready to learn, apply and excel.
