We help students from Nursery 2 to kindergarten come up the curve in a systematic way — from letter forms to simple sight words, students progress to developing one-line picture descriptions and vocabulary building, gaining the mastery to form simple sentences on their own.

A range of engaging and relevant topics help students to find the words in their writing. Age-appropriate skills are taught with games, pictures and easy-to-understand practices to help students build a confidence in writing and a love for English.

This means that students are taught how to write pieces which

• are relevant to the theme, question or visuals (I)
• shows a strong ability to use language precisely (S)
• generate a high level of interest in the reader (E)

In class, we use specially designed worksheets that help students to plan out a story on a story curve to ensure a logical flow of events. We also help students recall and apply the right vocabulary and teach specific techniques like show-not-tell or personal voice to make their compositions more engaging for readers. Each writing exercise is paired with a sample of good writing to students can learn to identify and emulate good writing. 

Our range of skills-based workshops helps students gain proficiency in question analysis, keyword analysis, forming of thesis, structuring of key ideas and the gathering, analysis and evaluation of facts and data to support the points they make.

To build strong content points that are rooted in fact and evidenced in society, our students have access to a wide range of good writing from major internal news sources like The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Economist, The Atlantic and more. Additionally, we teach students useful language devices to use the right tone in their writing through the use of imperatives, qualifiers and tricolonic forms and more.
