My journey at The Learning Lab through these 9 years has been particularly phenomenal - it has inspired and guided me in preparing solidly for the future. To find success in what you're striving towards, first find joy in it. To me, The Learning Lab's approach to education can be surmised as an irresistible combination of enriching material and passionate teachers. They were inspiring and knowledgeable, delivering a quality of education that I simply could not find elsewhere.

Till this date, I still remember my visceral disappointment when I realized I would miss a Math lesson due to a family holiday, as my teacher had promised to apply geometry and spatial concepts to show us the unimaginable - how to create a hole on a piece of A4 paper large enough for us to walk through.

It is hence this compelling combination that first showed me that learning could be fun, and filled me with palpable excitement whenever I learnt something new that stretched me beyond my peers. Whether it was the intensive exam preparations or the thorough content lectures, it has supported my academic growth and allowed me to achieve my personal bests.

The Learning Lab has provided me with treasured opportunities to excel and explore. Apart from its impeccable academic curriculum, its Future Leaders Program has brought me to the internationally acclaimed Harvard Model Congress thrice with my Learning Lab peers. On all three occasions, our team was conferred the distinguished award of excellence.

This is a clear testimony to how adequately The Learning Lab prepares you for a worldly stage by bringing learning out of the classroom. Apart from the obvious takeaway of the awards, it has endowed me with better public speaking skills, the great experience of an overseas trip, and frankly a great lot of fun.

Recalling the lessons I've had in Paris 1 or New York 5, the most valuable one I gained was the sense that the world is my oyster. It is not just the names of the classrooms or the impeccable decor that encourage this sense.

I took English from P4 to S4, and the fondest moments have been those where my teachers and I discussed the many happenings outside of the classroom. Be it my teacher's fondness for architectural marvels across the world as a window shedding light on the ebbs and flows of the global economy, or her entertaining stories of her childhood encouraging reflection on our own educations, I have learnt much more than just English itself.

I am privileged to feel like I can now feel the pulse of this vast world, becoming an active participant in it, and in large part I have because TLL encouraged me to find this world beyond the classroom.

Hear From Zoe Tay — A Fulfilling Journey Towards PSLE Excellence With The Learning Lab

Just like all PSLE parents, my husband and I were anxious about our son’s PSLE preparation. We enrolled our eldest son into The Learning Lab’s English and Science programmes to give him as much support as we could in the lead-up to his PSLE.

We found that The Learning Lab’s lesson materials are good — they are relevant, have a clear structure and highlight key areas of focus — more importantly, our son found the worksheets especially useful when he was completing his revision.

Also, his teachers were very dedicated and hardworking. Throughout the preparation period, they helped him to work on areas of weakness and taught him effective exam techniques that really helped him to better understand the topics that were tested.

When we received his PSLE results on 24 November, we were overjoyed — our son achieved a PSLE score above 270 and he got an A* for all of his subjects!

Our experience with The Learning Lab has been great — all three of our children are currently enrolled with The Learning Lab. One thing we appreciate very much is the regular communication we have with their teachers. This helps us to understand how our children are doing in class and we are happy knowing they are in capable hands.

We are excited to see what lies ahead in all our sons’ journeys with The Learning Lab. For our eldest, we are looking forward to him experiencing The Learning Lab’s secondary school programmes.

Zoe has three sons in Primary 2, Primary 5 and Secondary 1 (2018) who are enrolled in The Learning Lab.

It has been a great 3 years of rich language experience and exposure for Dharani at The Learning Lab. The English program here has a holistic approach which develops high reading capabilities, good presentation skills, essential communication skills, immense knowledge on world affairs and creative writing. Dharani has also been selected by her School to participate in English Debates, Spelling Bee Competition, Scrabble Competition and “Babble & Speak” Competition. I am very delighted and proud as a parent to see my daughter shine in these competitions. All these would not have been possible without The Learning Lab.

Both my children look forward to their Learning Lab lessons every week. They enjoy the open communication their teachers instill within the classroom by encouraging students to participate actively on topic discussions. Often, they are excited to share the things they have learned from their lessons! The Learning Lab experience provides a cutting edge to my sons’ learning journeys by developing their ability to think critically and deeply about issues around them.

We have chosen TLL Junior as we find that you have brilliantly managed to design an impressive curriculum and hire a fantastic team of teachers to deliver it. Your curriculum goes beyond the normal school curriculum, and many of your teachers have experience beyond the education sector, which adds an interesting flavour to the classroom. We have a wonderful experience at TLL.

The Learning Lab is a perfect embodiment of how great companies are built on great products. Throughout the 8 years that my three children have been taking lessons at The Learning Lab, the teachers and staff have consistently delivered an excellent educational experience for them.

My eldest son, Arif, always looked forward to attending his classes! As a GEP student, he thoroughly relished how lessons are enriched with current affairs, famous personalities and interesting case studies. In his own words, “The lessons come alive”. It also helped that his teachers displayed tremendous dedication and extramural excellence, which fuelled his passion for learning. His time at The Learning Lab definitely stretched him well beyond his years, which was well reflected when he emerged as the 2nd highest PSLE scorer nationwide in 2011.

I will continue to entrust their education to TLL, as it has continually equipped my children with the tools and motivation to go further in life and succeed in their future undertakings.

Valerie really enjoys her lessons at The Learning Lab! She always shares with me that her teachers are cheerful and kind-hearted, and shower her with lots of encouragement. In addition to the nurturing environment, I am also extremely satisfied with the curriculum here.

In English classes, Valerie is taught specific writing techniques and introduced to model compositions, which enable her to digest and understand concepts more readily. Her composition has since improved from 58% to 95%, in a short span of half a year! Presentations conducted termly also offer Valerie a valuable edge in honing her public speaking skills.

As a parent, I am heartened to know that my child is in good hands and am confident that she will be able to excel academically and beyond.

I have always heard raving reviews about The Learning Lab, but I was only truly convinced after enrolling my daughter, Jessica, for its programmes.

Ever since Jessica started taking Science and English lessons at TLL, she has gained considerable confidence in these subjects. She is given very comprehensive Science notes weekly, which effectively condense difficult topics and illustrate critical concepts. Experiments conducted in class help to stimulate Jessica’s curiosity and interest in learning too! With a strong foundation in place, she has consistently been scoring above 90 marks for Science. She is faring well in English too, and is in the Band One range for the subject.

I am also impressed by the commitment of Jessica’s teachers at TLL, who show genuine concern for her by contacting me regularly to update on her progress.

My daughter looks forward to her classes at TLL Junior and loves the encouragement given by her teachers there. I believe she has lots of fun in class as she never fails to tell me she wants to go for class on Saturday even though it’s her nap time! Teachers are very energetic and passionate. They will make the effort to engage the kids and keep the class interesting for them. I appreciate also the fact that they would take time to feedback after each lesson so that I know what has been taught in class and how I can help reinforce Kayla’s learning.

My child Sasha is so eager to attend class every week. Even if she is not feeling well, she is so focused and willing to attend the class. Since joining TLL, she has grown in confidence when handling Mathematical problems. I look forward to seeing more positive changes in her apart from how she handles her academic work. The most important thing is that she feels so relaxed and stress free after the end of 1hr 45 minutes class. That’s the success of TLL.

MRS KAVITHA XAVIER

Jervis looks forward to his Math lesson every week. He enjoys doing the worksheets especially the advanced and challenging ones given by his teacher. The teachers are able to assess my boy’s weakness from his work and will also discuss with me after each lesson how they will help my boy and how I can revise with him at home. Special thanks to his Math teacher for her patience and fun loving ways to make the lesson interesting for my boy. TLL has prepared him well for his school tests and he understands the concepts well.

At The Learning Lab, my 2 little ones are constantly being engaged using a variety of learning methodologies – whether in terms of audio-visual stimulation, hands-on activities or through the integration of technological learning applications. The classroom experience has thus become a thrilling and enjoyable event they look forward to every week, whereby they would then enthusiastically recount to us what the teacher had taught in class that day.

What sets The Learning Lab apart from the rest is none other than the content and unique programmes delivered. My teachers saw me through the stressful PSLE year and was a pivotal factor in helping me achieve an A* and A for Math and Science respectively.

The hands-on experiments we did during our Science lessons, for example the construction of circuit boards and periscopes, allowed me to understand complex concepts from a refreshing perspective. Gradually, I began looking forward to The Learning Lab lessons as they became the highlight of my week. For English, my teacher had definitely helped me build a strong foundation in grammar and sowed the seeds for the development of my vocabulary. This was facilitated through the secret notebook, (known fondly as the ‘SNB’) where we had to build up our vocabulary bank by recording new words we learnt that week and were subsequently encouraged to use them in our writing so that these words can be transferred from paper to memory. Spending an entire decade at this established institution, I can’t help but recommend it to anyone who’s overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices of tuition programmes these days.

JAMES LIM CHIU YANG

James Lim Chiu Yang, TLL Student From 2003-2010

The Learning Lab is more than just an enrichment centre – it is an established institute that has shaped me into the person I am proud to be today. The culture of the place is that of reverence – respect for the teachers, the learning and the environment. Every Saturday, my English teacher would bring us through a repertoire of enticing materials. There was a liberating sense of freedom in her classroom that I treasure deeply. Every input was valued and considered, and everyone felt safe contributing to an invigorating discussion. My English teacher’s surfeit of knowledge and prodigious wisdom on the world still inspires me today.

With the Learning Lab, I was exposed to ideas and insights that served as the perfect complement to what I was learning in school. Beyond the classroom, I had the privilege of attending the Harvard Model Congress in San Francisco in 2013 and the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. and New York City in 2014. TLL provided me with the opportunities to bring my learning outside of the classroom and apply it in the global context.

KATE LIM JI WON

Kate Lim Ji Won, TLL Student From 2012-2014

I personally tend to be rather picky about commitments. If I attend any classes outside of school, I believe that they must supplement me with something beyond what my school has thus far made available; otherwise I would simply use the school’s resources. With this strict mind-set, The Learning Lab has proven to be more than worth the time I spent there; not only do I feel that it has given me exposure, knowledge and skills beyond the common classroom, I also feel grateful for the numerous opportunities presented and the friends made.

I find that TLL is more than a place that I just went to for tuition classes. It has been a source of enrichment, inspiration and, indeed, learning, and though my time there has ended, my journey with learning still has a long way to go. That may be one of my greatest takeaways from my experience with TLL.
