1. Are the secondary programmes targeted at mainstream or IP students?
The English programmes are meant for mainstream students sitting for the O-Level Examinations. IP students will benefit from the skills taught, but do note that the English programmes do not cover A-Level based sections. The Mathematics programmes are meant for mainstream students sitting for the O-Level Examinations. For IP students, it will be useful as they can prep for the A-Levels based on the skills and concepts taught in this programme. The Science programmes are suitable for all Secondary 4 students taking pure sciences from both mainstream and IP schools as the programmes are topic focused. The programmes can serve as intensive revision for any student who has already learnt the topics covered.
2. Will the Sec 4 English IR cover all parts of Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 and Paper 4?
No. Part 1 of IR for Sec 4s will only cover:
- Paper 1 (Writing) - editing and essay writing; and
- Paper 2 (Reading Comprehension) - focusing on Narrative Text
If your child would like more practice for Paper 4 (Oral communication), you can sign up for our S4 Prep for Oral Exams programme.
3. Will there be any homework?
There will be no homework. Students will be given time to try most questions as part of class work. For the remaining questions, students can try them at home and check their answers against the answer keys.
4. Will the worksheets be marked?
For English, components like composition writing will be collected by the teacher for marking. For other components and other subjects, our teachers will go through the answers in class. Due to the intensive nature of the programme, our teachers will focus more on the teaching content, question analysis and answering methods/techniques. Hence, answer keys are provided to ensure that there is a model answer to check against after the program ends. This is unlike our core program where we do not typically provide answer keys.
5. If I cannot make it for some sessions of the programme, can I still sign up? Do the different sessions cover related content?
You can still attend the session as different components/topics are covered in different sessions. Should you miss any session, worksheets and answer keys for some components will be provided.
6. My child already attends the Secondary 4 core programme. How will this be useful?
The Sec 4 Intensive Revision Programme focuses on the sections which we feel are key to helping students score in the exam, or topics that students stuggle the most in. Students can use this opportunity to consolidate their learning or to revise areas which they feel that they are not familiar with. This programme also serves to provide students with extra practice.
7. For the Sec 4 Additional Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics IR, will they cover all strands of the syllabi?
The Sec 4 Additional Mathematics IR 1 in June will cover the topics under the Algebra and Geometry strands and the IR 2 will cover topics under Calculus and Trigonometry strands in September. The Sec 4 Elementary Mathematics IR 1 in June will cover the topics under the Numbers, Algebra and Geometry strands and the IR 2 will cover topics under the Measurement, Probability and Statistics strands in September.
