Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is Power Boost different from P6 core (English/Maths/Science) programmes for an existing TLL student?

The Power Boost lessons are conducted differently from our usual core curriculum lessons. They incorporate the Test-Teach-Reflect approach where students can practise knowledge retrieval, identify gaps in their knowledge and receive immediate feedback on their work. Lessons are also structured to include consolidation and self-reflection exercises at the end of each lesson to nurture students’ self-awareness and control — they are able to report on what they have learnt and have increased confidence in the subject.

2. How is Power Boost different from the Intensive Revision Programmes in June/ Sept?

The topics and/or practices covered in Power Boost are different from the topics and/or practices covered in Intensive Revision (E/M/S) programmes in June and September.

Power Boost is a slightly longer programme that dives deep into selected the topic/components and students have more time to reflect on their performance while Intensive Revision is a short programme for students who want a quick review of some of the topics/components covered in the examinations.

For English Power Boost, each lesson focuses on a specific component (for example: Reading Comprehension) that the students will see in the PSLE. On top of reviewing the rules learnt, students will also learn tips and tricks in order to avoid making common mistakes. Students will also have time to reflect on their performance and receive personalised feedback to help them improve. On the other hand, Intensive Revision is a short programme that covers a range of components and serves as a form of extra practice for students.

For Mathematics Power Boost, the lessons are skill-based where students will learn how to apply the same skills across topics (eg: Spatial Visualisation skills is applied across topics such as Volume, Geometry, Area and Perimeter) whereas for Intensive Revision, the programmes cover topical revisions.

For Science Power Boost, key topics where students often struggled with are selected to be covered during each lesson whereas for Intensive Revision, it is more of a crash course for all the P5 topics (Jun IR) and all the P6 topics (Sep IR) to be covered during each programme.

3. Is this programme only for TLL students taking the same subject at TLL?

No. This programme is open to all P6 students - both TLL and non-TLL. Students do not need to be enrolled with us to sign up.

4. How do students receive their worksheets?

Worksheets are available to students in 2 ways:

• They can be downloaded and printed from our learning management system (TLL.360)

• They can be collected from our front desks at various locations (every 3 weeks)

5. Will the worksheets be marked?

Students are to submit worksheets on our learning management system (TLL.360) for marking by the teachers.

6. Is there any homework after each lesson?

Homework may be assigned based on the teacher’s assessment of each student’s learning needs.

7. Will lesson recordings be available for viewing after the lessons?

Yes. Lesson recordings will be available for 14 days after each lesson.
