1. Will this programme help prepare my child for GEP?
The programme is targeted to help students with the materials covered in the PSLE. For GEP preparation, parents can sign up for the GEP Excellence Programme which is open to both P2 and P3 students in June.
2. Will there be any homework?
There will be no homework. Students will be given time to try most questions as part of class work. For the remaining questions, students can try them at home and check their answers against the answer keys.
3. Will the worksheets be marked?
For English, components like composition writing will be collected by the teacher for marking. For other components and other subjects, our teachers will go through the answers in class. Due to the intensive nature of the programme, our teachers will focus more on the teaching content, question analysis and answering methods/techniques. Hence, answer keys are provided to ensure that there is a model answer to check against after the program ends. This is unlike our core program where we do not typically provide answer keys.
4. If I can only make it for 1 day out of the 2 days, can I still attend the session? Are the contents covered related?
You can still attend the session as different components/topics are covered over both days. Should you miss any session, worksheets and answer keys for some components will be provided.
5. My child already attends the Primary 3 core programme. How will this be useful?
The P3 Intensive Revision Programme focuses on the sections which we feel are key to helping students score in the exam, or topics that students struggle the most in. The programme will still focus on the same skills and methodolody taught in our core classes, but on a more intensive scale. Students can use this opportunity to consolidate their learning or to revise areas which they feel that they are not familiar with. This programme also serves to provide students with extra practice.
Intensive Revision Plus FAQ
1. Can I only sign up for IR plus and not IR?
No, IR plus can only be taken if the student has already signed up for IR.
2. What's the difference between the main intensive revision programme and the IR plus programme?
For Mathematics and Science, the main IR programme takes a more topical approach while the IR plus programme takes a more skill-based approach. For Mathematics, there is a heavy emphasis of performance excellence in the IR plus programme where the students will train on time management through timed quizzes and learn exam skills such as spotting errors/mistakes, mark allocation etc. For Science, the IR plus programme equips your child with the skills required to analyse experiment-based questions and interpret questions with data, which are they two key areas which many students find challenging.
For English, the IR programme focuses on a few sections of the paper at each time while teaching students skills to tackle specific sections. The IR plus programme zooms in to one of the most challenging papers, Paper 2 (Language Use and Comprehension), and focuses on sections which have the highest marks and/or have been traditionally challenging for students. IR plus allows for in depth coverage and practice as well as targeted feedback. Students will be able to clarify their doubts in a focused way.
