Frequently Asked Questions

1. I am already taking Primary 6 Core English/Science/Math programmes, how is this different?

The Power Boost lessons are conducted differently from our usual core curriculum lessons. Lessons are high energy — we incorporate quizzes/practices and active student participation opportunities so that students can constantly practise knowledge retrieval, identify gaps in their knowledge and receive immediate feedback on their work.

Lessons are also structured to include consolidation and self-reflection exercises at the end of each lesson to nurture students’ self-awareness and control. They will be able to report what they have learnt and will have increased confidence in the subject.

2. I already attended English/Math/Science Intensive Revision programmes in June or plan to attend the upcoming IRs in September, how is this different?

The topics and/or practices covered in Power Boost are different from the topics and/or practices covered in Intensive Revision (E/M/S) programmes in June and September. Power Boost is a slightly longer programme that dives deep into selected topic/components and students have more time to reflect on their performance while Intensive Revision is a short programme for students who want a quick review of some of the topics/components covered in the examinations.

For English Power Boosteach lesson focuses on a specific component (e.g. Reading Comprehension) that the students will see in the PSLE. On top of reviewing the rules learnt, students will also learn tips and tricks in order to avoid making common mistakes. Students will also have time to reflect on their performance and receive personalised feedback to help them improve. On the other hand, Intensive Revision is a short programme that covers a range of components and serves as a form of extra practice for students.

For Math Power Boost, the lessons are skill-based where students will learn how to apply the same skills across topics (eg: Spatial Visualisation skills are applied across topics such as Volume, Geometry, Area and Perimeter) whereas, for Intensive Revision, the programmes cover topical revisions.

For Science Power Boost, key topics that students often struggled with are selected to be covered during each lesson whereas for Intensive Revision, it is more of a crash course for all the P5 topics (Jun IR) and all the P6 topics (Sep IR) to be covered during each programme.

3. Can my child register for a Power Boost subject that he/she is not taking as a core programme? (i.e. sign up for Science Power Boost if he/she is enrolled in Primary 6 English core programme).

No. Power Boost programmes are only available for the subject(s) of your child's regular class(es). As the programmes are an extension of our June PSLE Preparation Programme (PPP), they are structured in such a way that they complement our core curriculum programme.

These programmes are for your child's level in 2023.
- It will be held fully physically at our centre (s).
- There are no replacement classes for any lessons missed.
- There will be no mailing of worksheets.
