Designed around food and sustainability, students will learn how to use statistics and percentages to make sense of data and make financial decisions, explore how meat can be grown in the laboratory and learn the art of communicating in a world of changing tastes and values.

Unravel the Facts and Figures

Role play as the Chief Data Analyst of a new food start-up company and learn how to: 
  • Collect, classify and display data using different statistical diagrams
  • Interpret data from pictograms, bar graphs, pie charts and line graphs
  • Evaluate the purposes and appropriateness of the use of different statistical diagrams
  • Perform calculations involving percentage conversion and comparison
  • Solve problems involving simple and compound interests

 

 

 

 

Going Green and Lean

Navigate the challenges as the company's Chief Sustainability Scientist  and learn how to: 
  • Describe and conduct food tests to investigate the presence of proteins, fats, starch and reducing sugars
  • Evaluate the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet
  • Identify covalent bonding as the bonding formed between atoms of non-metals
  • Apply concepts of structure and bonding in relation to the physical properties of covalent compounds
  • Describe atmospheric pressure and recognise its application in the 3-D bioprinting of lab-grown meat
  • Describe forces, pressure and electromagnetic radiation, and recognise the application of these concepts to check the texture and structure of lab-grown meat

 

 

Master the Art of Persuasion

Prepare a strong pitch to win the company more public support as the Chief Communications Officer and learn how to: 
  • Synthesise and summarise information about sustainability from various sources 
  • Craft clear company vision and mission statements 
  • Write explanations on sustainable business practices for the company 
  • Present company’s sustainable practices in an infographic 
  • Craft and present a persuasive speech for TEDtalk to promote the mission and vision of the start-up

1. Who would benefit from this programme? 

This programme is opened to TLL and non-TLL P6 students who will be Secondary 1 in 2024 to help them explore Lower Secondary topics for English, Math and Science through a fun and engaging camp.

 

2. Will there be any homework? 

There will be no homework.

 

3. Will lunch be provided? 

No. Students may pack their own food for lunch or get their own lunch from 12pm to 1 pm during the break.
