K1 & K2 Reading Workshop

The Reading Workshop is a 12-week program aimed at giving students a jumpstart to reading. 

Our systematic yet fun approach encourages children to want to learn even more words as they embark on their reading journey.

Children will not only have intensive practice in phonics and blending, but they will also be immersed in a fun learning environment with games, stories and books to borrow each week.

Programme Highlights

 

 

During each lesson, your child will learn how to decode words through blending and segmenting as well as learn how to read simple words and sentences. Your child will also get to practise sounding out beginning, middle and ending sounds.

 

At the start of the first lesson,

your child will go through a quick quiz with his or her teacher so that he or she can be grouped according to his or her reading proficiency. 

Your child will then be assigned to either of the following levels:

 

 

Level 1: Early Readers


Level 1 of our reading workshop aims to give students a good start to their reading journey.

Your child will: 

  • learn to decode words through blending and segmenting
  • learn to read simple words and sentences 
  • practise the beginning, middle and ending sounds of words

By the end of the program, your child will have learnt 30 new sight words and 30 new decodable words.

Level 2: Intermediate Readers


Level 2 of our reading workshop will take your child's reading proficiency a step further. 

Your child will: 

  • master foundational phonic sounds and consonant blends
  • learn to sound out digraphs and diphthongs
  • expand their vocabulary of sight words and multisyllabic words 

By the end of the program, they will have learnt 30 new sight words and 30 new decodable words.
